Itinerary

Okay, here's what's goin' on:

Mon. Apr. 14th: leave for Indy, take the cats to the 'rents downstate.
Tues. Apr. 15th: 12pm surgery
Wed.-Thur. Apr. 16-17th: recovery @ IU
Fri. Apr. 18th: go to the 'rents for the weekend and more recovery (play with the cats)
Sat.-Sun. Apr. 19-20th: hangin' out with the 'rents, their cable and their plasma TV
Sun. or Mon. (TBD): return to Northern MI

The recommend 4-8 weeks of recovery time; Matt is going to ask for the maximum. He jumped right back to work after chemo, but it's catching up with him. He's been tired (and crabby) and feeling worn out. He wants to make sure he is completely up to par before he tries going back to work again.

That's it for now!

(Does anyone have a vacuum they want to give me? I'm desperate. I have two cats and haven't vacuumed in...a long time).

Back at it

Well, here we are again...did you miss us? :) I'm just going to cut & paste an email that I sent out earlier today. I'll keep you posted:

Hey folks!

Good news: We are officially taking steps to ensure that Matt never has to worry about testicular cancer again.

Bad news: That means we are heading down to Indian University in a few weeks for Matt to have surgery.

We thought everything on the last CT scan was positive, especially since the suspicious lymph node shrank, but the actual shrinking of it confirmed that there were still cancer cells there, so it wasn't as positive as we thought. Because of that, Dr. Foster and Dr. Einhorn, THE testicular cancer experts in the world (Dr. Einhorn formulated the chemo for testicular cancer that changed the mortality rate from 40% to 2%) have recommended removing the node.

What does that mean? Well...a drive to IU, 3 days in the hospital down there, no driving for a week and 4-6 weeks recovery. The surgery is VERY similar to a C-section and so is the recovery time. If Matt worked a desk job he'd be able to go back to work 7-14 days after surgery. However, because of his activity, it'll be longer.

So, unfortunately, www.mattsmiracle.blogspot.com has been resurrected. Please check there for updates. I'll post the surgery date and our travel itinerary as soon as we have it.

May God bless you all with His divine health, prosperity and lots of chocolate (and feel free to share some of the chocolate with us )

Much love,
Matt & Karin

Final Post :(

Who am I kidding?? Woo hoo!! :) :) :)

Matt had his three month, post-chemo check-up today. The doctors have been watching an enlarged lymph node to see if it grows (a sign that its a tumor). Well...not only has it NOT grown...it SHRANK! That's right. The abnormal node is just about normal now, and there's always some scar tissue left, so the docs are absolutely NOT concerned. Especially because his last two blood tests have been PERFECT. If there was another tumor, it would have either shown up on the CT scan or the blood tests by now. Woo hoo!! No such signs :)

So...that makes this the official last post for updates on Matt and his battle against cancer. Folks, he won :) And we have only God to praise and thank for that. We thank Him for helping us catch it early, for the amazing employers who have stuck by Matt through everything, for our family & friends who helped and supported us, for the great staff of docs and nurses (go Dr. G and West 4!) who took care of us...and just for everything. God provides for all things in His perfect way and perfect timing. We have complete peace in that.

And now if you want to see what the Beerys are up to, you will have to tune in to: www.kavicvb.blogspot.com
It's all written by me, but news of Matt frequently makes an appearance.

Love y'all - be blessed with health and peace from God!
